Belleville Diocese Celebrates 125 Years (1887-2012)
Fanning the Flame – Grow in Belief, Celebration, Life, and Prayer

2012 Journey of Spiritual Renewal
On January 15, the Belleville Diocese will begin "Fanning the Flame" of faith by a yearlong spiritual renewal for all "to learn their faith, to love their faith and to live their faith."
Fanning the Flame will take us through the 36 chapters of the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults (USCCA). Each lesson will be explored and presented by Chapter Guides who will share their lesson insights in many different ways. Individuals may join at any time and follow along in a way that best meets their schedule.
What Do I Need to Join This Journey of Spiritual Renewal?
(1) Purchase a copy of the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults (USCCA). The list price for this catechism is $24.95, but there are several purchasing options, including:
- You can order the book from another online retailer. Amazon.com currently has a price of $14.22 for this catechism (though the price is subject to change), and if you use Goodshop.com, St. Rose can receive a small percentage of the purchase price. Here's how: Go to Goodshop.com, make sure that "St Rose of Lima Catholic Church (Metropolis, IL)" is selected as the cause that you support, click through to Amazon.com, search for the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults, and place your order.
(2) Register for the weekly Chapter Guide sheet by going to the Fanning the Flame website, and sign up to receive the Guide each week by e-mail.
How Do I Get Started?
(1) Read and reflect on the current chapter in the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults. (Check the Year at a Glance Calendar)
(2) Read and reflect on the Chapter Guide sheet that will complement the chapter in different ways and provide further insight into the lesson.
(3) Follow along on your own or in a group setting (families, friends, parishioners, youth, Small Christian Communities, and school groups).
(4) Review other resources available on www.ftfdiobelle.org.
(5) Continue each week to read and reflect on the Chapter and Study Sheet and devote time to prayer and attendance at Eucharist.
