Our Life of Faith Is a Journey
The Catholic community of St. Rose of Lima is blessed to have several groups of
dedicated and caring volunteers who support the families of our community.
One of these groups offers religious education to our children through the Parish
School of Religion (PSR) program, by which all members can grow in knowledge,
understanding, and appreciation of their Catholic faith.
One of the ways this is accomplished is by providing a structured formal religious
education program to our children, beginning at four years old and continuing through
Confirmation age youth. A critical part of this process is the partnership that
exists between the students, their parents, and the dedicated volunteers and staff that
minister in the PSR program. The partnership between the students and their parents
is particularly essential if we hope to pass the treasure of our faith to our children,
who are the future members of the Catholic community.
To enhance our children's education experience, parents and families must actively put
their faith into practice, both at home and at church, including regular Mass attendance
and reception of the sacraments whenever appropriate and possible. You can be a part
of your child's faith development if you assist your children in completing their
homework assignments and projects, discuss learned religion concepts with them, and attend
social functions of the parish outside of Mass. These demonstrations of comitment
to the teaching of the Catholic faith will build trust and reinforce what is being taught
to the children in the classroom.
As a sign of our concern and support and realizing that we all share in this process, we
urge you to pray, witness, and participate in the work of the Lord so that we may grow
together in our faith. We urge your support as parents, and as committed Catholic
parishioners, to help with this critical part of our faith and to truly pass along the treasure
of God's love for our children.

Attendance
Attendance is required for each student enrolled in our program. If your child MUST
be absent from class for any reason, you should call the Religious Education Office at
524-8202. True readiness and long-term preparation are two of the criteria for
the reception of the sacraments.
The CRE will need to consult with parents or adult guardians if any child misses more than
three classes per PSR year.
Each child registered in PSR will gather for classes from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on
Wednesday evenings. Your child's safety is important to us. When classes have
ended, please supervise your child in crossing the street.
Occasionally, groups may leave the classroom for adjoining church property in order to
participate in various activities; the children will be accompanied by adults.
In the case of class cancellation due to weather we will attempt to contact you by
phone.
Registration
Your family must be registered as parishioners of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
Your child must be baptized in the Christian faith, or you must show a willingness to
have the child baptized, to be admitted to the PSR program.
Registration forms should be filled out by each family.
Fees:
First Child: $15.00
Second Child: $10.00
Third Child: $5.00
If paying by check, please make payable to St. Rose of Lima.
