Bishop Braxton's Confirmation Mass - May 19th:  Bishop Braxton's pastoral visit to St. Rose of Lima Parish will be on Saturday May 19, 2012.  He will Celebrate the 5:30 PM Saturday Mass in which he will give the Sacrament of Confirmation to 13 confirmation candidates:  six from St. Rose of Lima Parish, Metropolis and seven from St Paul Parish in Vienna.  Please pray for the bishop, the two parishes, the Confirmation candidates, and their families and sponsors:  RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT - says Jesus - John 20:22

Uganda Sister Parish:  Fr. Mujule would like to thank you all very much for last weekend's Uganda Sister Parish Collection whose total was $2,407.75.  May God bless you abundantly!

Belleville Diocese History Books for Sale:  Copies of the beautiful Book on the History of Belleville Diocese 125th Anniversary (1875-2012), are now available for sale in every parish, including our parish here.  There is also a page given to each parish including our St. Rose of Lima Catholic Parish, Metropolis.  The price per copy is only $30.  Check at the back of the church for the forms for payment of the books.

Belleville Diocese Celebrates 125 Years (1887-2012):  On January 15, the Belleville Diocese began "Fanning the Flame" of faith by a year-long spiritual renewal for all "to learn their faith, to love their faith and to live their faith."  Fanning the Flame will take us through the 36 chapters of the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults (USCCA).  Each lesson will be explored and presented by chapter guides who will share their lesson insights in many different ways.  Individuals may join at any time and follow along in a way that best meets their schedule.  Learn more here on St. Rose's web site, or on the Diocese of Belleville's Fanning the Flame web site.

HHS Contraception Mandate Information Links:  Bishop Braxton's recent letter explains how the recent contraception coverage mandate from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services violates the religious liberty of Catholics and Catholic institutions.  The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops provides more details about the issue.  And the National Catholic Register has a list of resources explaining Catholic moral teaching on contraception.
